Bob D'Eith has been involved in the music industry for over twenty-two years in various capacities: entertainment lawyer (D'Eith & Company), two time JUNO Award nominated recording artist (Rymes with Orange and Mythos), winner of two WCMA awards, studio owner, label and music publisher (Adagio Music Inc.). He has written "A Career in Music: The Other 12 Step Program" to fill a void in the world of music business books. Bob observes that, "there are many music business books written from the U.S.A. or U.K. perspective, but none that I am aware of from the Canadian perspective."
Bob has had a very colourful and interesting career in music and has been a musician ALL of his life. He has had associated deals with major labels like A&M/Universal, Warner, and Virgin/EMI. He has not only had 10 top radio songs, and charted months in Billboard magazine in the USA, but has jammed with artists like The Trews, Hedley, MotherMother, Wide Mouth Mason, Simple Plan, Odds, Chilliwack and many others. Bob reflects on his experience and resources to share with the Canadian music community.
"A Career in Music" examines where the money is for Canadian artists and how to get it. Bob says, "half of the battle is knowing where to register and with what organizations." It provides the independent artist with the tools they need to make it in today's ever changing music industry. Now more than ever, artists need to understand the many parts of the music business both traditional and cutting edge and this book provides them with the information they need to know.
Career In Music " examines
how to identify and take advantage of income opportunities, with direction to necessary online registration services. This book also shares useful links to other artist pages,
industry sites, and discussion examples, along with an appendix full
of checklists, outlines, resources, and more detailed information on
topics addressed in the book.
"If you're hoping to make a career out of music, this book could be the difference between getting it right and flaming out." - Alan Cross music historian, broadcaster and blogger. ©2013
